Pedestrian killed on I-5 identified

EVERETT — A pedestrian who was killed while crossing I-5 in Everett on June 21 has been identified as Christopher Joseph Mallen, 53.

Mallen was struck by two vehicles while crossing the freeway near the 41st Street interchange, according to the Washington State Patrol. It happened just after 10:30 p.m. in the southbound lanes.

The crash remains under investigation. Troopers said they don’t expect to seek criminal charges.

Officials have been unable to find Mallen’s relatives to notify them of his death.

Anyone who may have known him is encouraged to contact the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office.
