Lynnwood: State of the City speech: Mayor Nicola Smith's State of the City address is set for 8 a.m. June 11 at the Lynnwood Convention Center.
The speech will last about an hour, after which people will be able to chat with various city leaders.

Mill Creek: Japanese flower exhibit scheduled: The Mill Creek Ikenobo group and the city's parks and recreation department have scheduled an exhibition of Japanese flower exhibition arrangements.
The display is set for 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on June 1 at the Mill Creek annex, located at 15720 Main Street.
The exhibition is expected to include more than 30 fresh flower arrangements. A free, one-hour class on creating the arrangements is scheduled for 2 p.m.

Snohomish: New finance director: The city of Snohomish has hired a Minnesota woman as finance director. Jennifer Anderson is scheduled to start on June 9.
Anderson has worked in executive management positions in finance for the Minnesota cities of Waconia, Sartell and Big Lake since 1996.
She currently serves as a consultant to the state of Minnesota's Small Business Development Center. She also provides financial services to the municipal building commission for the city of Minneapolis and Hennepin County.
Anderson's appointment comes in time to help with the 2015 budget. She is set to replace Danny Weinberg, who retired earlier this year.
