Seems Like Yesterday

50 years ago (1964)
Mr. and Mrs. A.S. Gerry, 1303 Madrona Ave., learned that their daughter, Annette, completed an album for the Columbia Recording Company in Japan called “Let's Sing English Songs,” to be used for teaching English classes in Japanese schools.

The work of Julian Bowden and Mark Goin, two young amateur painters and employees at the Bon Marche in the display department, was on display at First Federal. Bowden attended Everett Junior College studying interior design while Goin attended Gonzaga University.

25 years ago (1989)
Brien Motors, at 5200 Evergreen Way in south Everett, was having a wagon round-up. A Taurus GL wagon was $13,995 after a $750 rebate, an Escort LX wagon was $8,995 after a $500 rebate and an Aerostar was $13,995 after a $400 rebate. The dealership was open daily, evenings and Sundays.

The Ben Franklin at 19505 Hwy 2 in Monroe advertised home décor specials. Experts were on hand to help with floral design tips and ideas. With the purchase of supplies there was free arranging. The paper also included a $5 coupon.
