Associated Press
PORTLAND, Ore. Snow has started falling in downtown Portland as many in the Pacific Northwest brace for a third consecutive day of storms.
The National Weather Service warns of snow in the Portland area, southwest Washington and the Columbia River Gorge while an ice storm warning is in effect for Eugene and the rest of the southern Willamette Valley. Another 3 to 7 inches of snow is expected in the Central Oregon city of Bend.
The snow began swirling in Portland just before 10 a.m. Saturday, falling on top of already treacherous streets and slippery sidewalks.
Drivers have been urged to stay off the roads and they appear to be heeding that message.
