EVERETT — An Everett man suffered burns to his hand Friday when he rescued his dogs from a fire in his garage.
The fire was reported just before 7:45 a.m. in the 200 block of E. View Ridge Drive, Everett Assistant Fire Marshal Eric Hicks said. The man, believed to be in his 20s, heard his dogs barking and went to investigate. He saw gray smoke coming from the garage door, Hicks said.
The man grabbed a garden hose to douse the flames and opened the metal garage door so his dogs could escape, including two puppies, Hicks said. He burned his hand on the hot garage door.
Firefighters arrived and quickly extinguished the fire, Hicks said. The man was taken to a local hospital.
Investigators believe the fire was caused by a high-intensity light that had been left on overnight.
