Associated Press
ROY -- Pierce County animal control officers say they found seven dead pigs and seized nearly two dozen other animals during a raid on a recently abandoned farm near Roy.
KOMO-TV reported that several of the animals rescued Friday were emaciated.
On-scene Animal Control supervisor Brian Bowman says the animals were found in "deplorable conditions" with no food or water.
Officers confiscated 16 pigs, two steers, a bull, a horse, a dog and several cats. The animals will be held at a contractor's farm for evidence.
Pierce County Auditor Julie Anderson's office oversees the Animal Control department. She says the farm owner has been on the agency's radar for a while. She says she's optimistic officers can build a case.
Neighbors reportedly have complained about the farm for years.
