Front Porch: Lecture series on Lowell history wraps up Tuesday

Final lecture Tuesday
A final free public seminar is scheduled Tuesday as part of the Ice, Wood and Water series. Pioneer descendant Alex G. Alexander plans to deliver the 7 p.m. talk on Lowell's future potential as a river-integrated neighborhood. The venue is Lowell Community Church, 5218 S Second Ave., Everett. Tuesday's talk is the sixth in a series commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Lowell neighborhood, which predates Everett, and the 140th anniversary of Getchell Ranch.

Fire meeting moved: Snohomish County Fire District 3 in Monroe plans to move the time of its Dec. 23 commissioners meeting due to the holidays. The meeting will be held at 9 a.m. at district headquarters, 163 Village Court, Monroe. For information, go to

Navy Band Northwest free concert: Navy Band Northwest will present its 2013 holiday concert, "Home for the Holidays," at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Everett Performing Arts Center. The concert is free.
