BOTHELL -- Lily Hart scored two goals, including the go-ahead score in the 75th minute, and Mountlake Terrace locked up third place in the Wesco 3A South with a win over Shorewood on Wednesday.
"I think third place is the best finish in a while for Mountlake Terrace," said Hawks head coach Evan Hatch. "This is a big win going into the playoffs."
Hart opened the scoring in the 20th minute after beating a Thunderbirds defender and then shooting far post past goalkeeper Ariel Garay. Shorewood tied the match 10 minutes later when Zoe Vincini fed Sienna Helland for the equalizer.
But with less than four minutes left, an Allison Lorraine throughball unlocked the Shorewood defense and Hart was able to finish far post again.
"Hart gives most teams trouble, but tonight our midfielders (Lorraine, Claire Zucker and McKenna Hunt) were able to pass it to Hart," said Hatch. "Shorewood did a good job of controlling the middle of the field at times, but our whole midfield was able to create some chances."
At Lynnwood H.S.
Goals--Lily Hart (MT) 2, Sienna Helland (S). Assists--Allison Lorraine (MT), Zoe Vincini (S). Goalkeepers--Shorewood: Ariel Garay. Mountlake: Amanda Aversano. Records--Shorewood 6-5-2 league, 9-5-2 overall. Mountlake Terrace 8-4-1, 10-5-1.
