Thursday Seahawks links

Happy Thursday/Wednesday, everybody. For most of the world, it’s the latter, but in the week of preparation for the Seahawks, who play Monday nigh, today’s Wednesday. Confused? Good. Me too.

Anyway. . . In today’s Herald, I offer up a reminder that Percy Harvin’s pending return will not lead to a drastic overhaul of Seattle’s offense. Sure he’s a heck of a player who will make the Seahawks more explosive, but they’re still going to lean heavily on the running game.

Jayson Jenks of the Seattle Times looks at Seattle’s pass rush, which is much improved from a year ago.

Todd Dybas of the News Tribune looks at how the schedule is setting up nicely for the Seahawks. And if you missed it, I took a slightly less serious look at this topic last week.

Art Thiel of takes issue with what Richard Sherman wrote about concussions in his piece that ran Wednesday on

Pete Prisco of studies some Seahawks game tape and comes away wondering why teams bother bringing pressure against Russell Wilson. catches up with Ricardo Lockette, Seattle’s newest practice squad addition who has some history with the team.’s Gregg Rosenthal has Russell Wilson at No. 7 on his weekly QB rankings, saying “Wilson’s performance in the win over the Arizona Cardinals was one of the best games by a quarterback all season.”

At, Danny O’Neil makes Rams rookie receiver Tavon Austin his “person of interest.” Austin, the No. 8 pick in the draft, was expected to be a big playmaker, but has had little impact this season.

Not directly Seahawks related, but Mike Silver of has a pretty damning story on Buccaneers coach Greg Schiano. I link to this for a couple of reasons. First off, it’s just a good piece; secondly, the Seahawks play this mess of a team in Week 9, and thirdly, there are some good quotes from current Seahawk and former Buccaneer Michael Bennett.
