Interfaith vigil: St. Augustine's-in-the-Woods Episcopal Church will host the 10th annual Whidbey Interfaith Vigil of Peace and Hope, 3 p.m. today. The church is at 5217 Honeymoon Bay Road, Freeland. The service will feature prayer and scripture contributions from Buddhist, Christian, Jewish, Muslim and Native American faith traditions. There also will be live music, and a talk by Seattle Mennonite pastor Weldon Nisly. Monetary donations will be taken for Helping Hand of South Whidbey. More info: 360-678-5071.
Tuition benefit: Archbishop Murphy High School holds its first-ever STAR Luncheon (Student Tuition Assistance Relief) at noon Oct. 16. The fundraiser features Jim Lambright, former University of Washington football coach, along with senior Jessica Lucas, who receives tuition assistance. Proceeds will help close the gap between what tuition rates cover and the actual cost to run the Catholic school, a gap of about $3,000 per student. The school is at 12911 39th Ave. SE, Everett. Shelter benefit: Interfaith Association hosts its annual fundraising dinner, "Always a Time to Bloom," 6-9:30 p.m. Oct. 22 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 6215 196th St. SW in Lynnwood. Dinner, small silent auction, raffle, dessert dash, a time to give directly, and time to meet with a family who previously lived at The Family Shelter. All proceeds support Interfaith's work with homeless and low-income families with an emphasis on emergency shelter leading to permanent housing. Tickets are $30. Play: Saint Luke Productions presents "Faustina: Messenger of Divine Mercy," a live drama about the saint, at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 26 in the Mattie Hall gymnasium of Immaculate Conception/Our Lady of Perpetual Help church, 2517 Hoyt Ave., Everett.
