An award for Richard Sherman, and your Thursday links

To start things off, Richard Sherman was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Month for September. Sherman, who was named NFC Defensive Player of the Week in Week 2, helped shut down Anquan Boldin in Seattle’s win over San Francisco that week and intercepted a pass, then against Houston last weekend, Sherman had the play of the game, returning a fourth-quarter interception 58 yards for a touchdown to tie the game.

In today’s Herald, a look at Bruce Irvin’s return to action. Also, a notebook leading with Seattle’s acquisition of former 49ers quarterback B.J. Daniels.

Over at TheMMQB.com, Don Banks says we can call off the regular season, we already know the Seahawks and Broncos are playing in the Super Bowl.

Jayson Jenks of the Seattle Times with a nice look at Michael Bennett, who went form expendable in Seattle in 2009 to one of their most important defensive players this season.

Davie Boling of the News Tribune has a column on Colts coach Chuck Pagano, who at this time a year ago was beginning his fight against cancer.

And finally, you remember the story last week about Russell Wilson getting a duct tape wallet from a patient during his weekly visit to Seattle Children’s Hospital? Well that story has a happy ending, with the patient, Allison, getting a new heart last week.
