Seahawks injury updates and a roster move

First a quick roster update, the Seahawks signed center Jason Spitz, who fills the roster spot that came open with yesterday’s release of DT D’Anthony Smith.

Spitz, a third-round pick in 2005, started 45 games in his first four seasons with Green Bay, then signed with Jacksonville in 2011. He spent all of last season on injured reserve with a foot injury and was released by the Jaguars in August.

Now, onto the injury stuff. Carroll said DE Red Bryant should be fine for Sunday, however he won't practice today: "Red won’t go today, he’ll go tomorrow. We’ll hold a few guys out today and get them started with the week on Thursday."

On WR Jermaine Kearse, who has an ankle injury: "He’s going to try to go tomorrow. We’ll rest him today too. He’s making a very quick recovery it seems and he’ll be running (today) to see how he can do for tomorrow. We don’t know all of that yet, but we have our fingers cross that he has a chance to play."

The status of right tackle Breno Giacomini is up in the air after he left Sunday's game with a knee injury: "He’s sore today. He’s not going to go today. We’ll see how he is, but he’s got some more information to get to see where he is, but he got nicked a little bit in this ballgame."

Asked if there was an update on WR Percy Harvin, Carroll said, "He’s in New York right now. He’s back in New York rehabbing and making sure we do everything just right. He’s very positive about how he’s coming back, we want to make sure we do a great job and support it every way, so we’ve made a choice to send him back and he’s doing great. I don’t know what that means in terms of the timeline."

DT Jordan Hill, who has out since training camp with a bicep injury, will return to practice, but be limited. Carroll said they don't know if Hill will play sunday, but "we’ll finally get him back out there, which is great."

FB Spencer Ware will miss this week with the ankle injury suffered against San Francisco, and S Jeron Johnson won't practice today because of the hamstring injury that has kept him out of the past two games.
