Today is the unofficial start of Everett's training camp. The veterans check in this afternoon before undergoing orientation. Invited players check in Thursday morning before on-ice sessions get underway.

This post will be updated following today's check-in ...

--- UPDATE, 5 p.m.

So Everett's veterans and list players have now checked in for tomorrow's start of training camp.

Pretty much everyone you'd expect is here. Every single player eligible to return from last season is here with the exception of forwards Lucas Grayson and Stathis Soumelidis and defenseman Ryan Murray. Grayson and Soumelidis were released during the offseason, while Murray is off to the professional ranks. Others who checked in were Everett's two European candidates, Finnish forward Waltteri Hopponen and Russian forward Ivan Nikolishin, as well as touted listed player Linden Penner.

One older player who didn't check in today was Jujhar Khaira. The 19-year-old forward, who's a potential major impact player for the Tips after leaving Michigan Tech University, is expected to arrive Thursday. His participation in training camp is expected to be limited as he keeps himself fresh for attending camp with the NHL's Edmonton Oilers.

Among Everett's prospects, pretty much everyone who was expected to show up is here. That includes skilled Californian forwards Patrick Khodorenko and Alec Mehr, whom the Tips are hoping to woo. All of this year's bantam draft picks are also here with the exception of first rounder Tyson Jost, who has a scheduling conflict and won't arrive until Sunday. Three prospects who aren't here are 17-year-old defensemen Carter Cochrane and Justin Baudry, as well as 16-year-old d-man and Mill Creek native Daniel Woolfenden. Those three are apparently considering the NCAA route.

I also found out how to pronounce Astasiewicz (Everett's third-round bantam pick this year, defenseman Alex Astasiewicz). I think. If my memory is correct it's As-ta-SAV-ish, but don't quote me on that.
