Scouting Report
The Storm (6-9) play their first of back-to-back games today against the Los Angeles Sparks hoping to avoid falling to their 10th loss of the season.
It is their second meeting with the Sparks after falling in Los Angeles in the season opener, 102-69. The Storm should be in for another tough battle tonight, Los Angeles (11-5) trails first place Minnesota by just one game in the Western Conference standings.
The Sparks are a difficult team to handle on the offensive end with four players scoring over 12 points per game, led by all-star Candace Parker who is averaging 18.4 points and 9.4 rebounds per contest. With the first overall pick in 2012, Nneka Ogwumike averaging 13.4 points and 7.4 rebounds a game, the Sparks have two players who can both score and rebound inside.
As a team the Sparks are averaging 85.1 points per game and 48.4 percent from the field.
In order to avoid dropping their seventh game in nine tries, the Storm's defense will have to be stellar and the offense will have to find a way to score consistently.
Look for forward Tina Thompson and guard Temeka Johnson to have big games and second-year forward out of Tennessee Shekinna Stricklen could be an x-factor.
