Seems Like Yesterday

50 years ago (1963)

Roy Hagen was the new commander of the American Legion Marysville Post No. 178. Other officers were William Erickson, John Otto, Jack Lindborg, Donald Blair, Arthur Larson, Joel Palm, Howard Burgess, A.E. Lundstedt, Arthur Nelson and Willaim A. Carpenter.

Rawhide Riders were sponsoring a playday this Sunday at the old Harford school grounds on Ridel Road, Lake Stevens. Officers of the group included Joan Brosius, president; Melanie Baker, vice president; and Linda Boitano, secretary-treasurer. Mary Butler was adviser.

25 years ago (1988)

Israel Barber, 4, and Jeremy Milam, 5, met atop a ladder arch yesterday at Silver Lake City Beach yesterday. The beach was not scheduled to open until today, but the workers were ready and so was the weather. The weather matched the season; it was summer.

The neighborhood of May Ponds south of Mill Creek was treated to a sight this morning: a young black bear sauntering down the street. Several residents in the area reported seeing the bear. Black bear sightings in this area were not all that unusual, said Lt. Grant Marshall, stationed at the sheriff's office's south precinct.
