Seems Like Yesterday

50 years ago (1963)

Leaving the county auditor's office after service under three auditors was John W. McGhee, 6311 Beverly Blvd. McGhee worked as a photostat operator and elections superintendent in the office. He and his wife Leila operated the Beverly Park Grocery.

Bids for construction of a new educational services center for the Everett School District would be opened on July 8. The building, designed by Harold Hall, would be located at 48th Street and Colby Avenue. Providing quarters for school administrative offices, construction was being financed through the sale of Jefferson School to the U.S. Post Office Department.

25 years ago (1988)

Craig Beeson, former Marnier High School star end and University of Washington all-time leading scorer, was selected in the third round of the Major Indoor Soccer League draft by the Kansas City Comets.

Wally Walling's fast time and main event victory in the modified class highlighted the Sky Valley Racing Association card at Evergreen Speedway. Bothell's Shawn Mein won the main event in the bobby stocks class and Alderwood Manor's Orville Rodgers won the limited stocks main event.
