Seahawks waive/injured TE Anthony McCoy; sign T Jake Bscherer

The Seahawks waived/injured tight end Anthony McCoy, who tore his Achilles during last week’s organized team activities. The move is largely a procedural one, because if McCoy clears waivers, which is very likely given the severity of the injury, he will end up on Seattle’s injured reserve list. McCoy, a sixth-round pick in 2010, will become a free agent after this season.

The Seahawks signed tackle Jake Bscherer to fill the vacant roster spot. Bscherer, who was at Seattle’s rookie minicamp as a tryout player, spent three seasons at Wisconsin before transferring to Minnesota-Duluth.
