The Everett Philharmonic teams up with the acclaimed Pacific Lutheran University Choirs to bring its season finale of Beethoven's powerful Mass in C.
In presenting the concert "Listener's Choice," the philharmonic showcases Beethoven's symphony and the sweeping sound of his Mass in C, a truly inspired work, philharmonic conductor Paul-Elliot Cobbs said.
The evening's works will be performed with the acclaimed Pacific Lutheran University Choral Union and their famed Choir of the West.
"This is definitely a performance of grandest stature," Cobbs said. "The Mass and Symphony have been requested by so many of our audience members and rightfully so. Beethoven is incomparable. The season finale concert promises to be the most exciting of the year!"
The Pacific Lutheran University Choirs are conducted by Dr. Richard Nance, director of choral activities at Pacific Lutheran University. Nance will conduct the philharmonic together with the PLU choirs, opening the evening with the Mass in C.
The evening concludes with another work of charismatic themes by the beloved Beethoven, his Symphony No. 9 and the "Ode to Joy."
Cobbs will take center stage for this performance as he leads the philharmonic orchestra and PLU choirs.
"This monumental piece is a fitting conclusion to a memorable season," operations manager Cami Davis said. "The audience is in for a rare treat."
Doors open for "Listener's Choice" at 5:45 p.m. Saturday at Everett Civic Auditorium, 2415 Colby Ave., Everett. A stage-side chat between Cobbs and guests begins at 6 p.m. The concert begins at 7 p.m.
Tickets are $25 each; $20 for seniors and students. Go to www.everettphil.org or call 206-270-9729.
