The Buzz: Grounded

A computer glitch forced the grounding of all American Airlines flights Tuesday. One travel expert advised travelers stranded at airports to buy one-day passes to the American Airlines lounge, enjoy a few drinks and some free snacks, and wait.

The problem with that advice is that an airline capable of undergoing a complete computer system crash is also quite likely to run out of everything except Fresca and yogurt-covered raisins at its airport lounges.

A tip of the tin foil hat: National Geographic Channel executives acknowledge that longtime readers of the venerable magazine occasionally are shocked by some of the shows on its namesake cable network.

However, The Buzz sees synergy between the magazine and the network. After watching people excitedly await the end of the world on TV's "Doomsday Preppers," we like to return to reality with a nice National Geographic magazine photo essay on South Seas cargo cults.

Color means flavor: Perfect macaroni and cheese requires proper cooking of the pasta and a velvety-smooth sauce, cookbook writers say.

And if your kids still won't eat your mac and cheese, just toss in some yellow dye No. 5 and yellow dye No. 6. They'll think it's Kraft dinner.
