Seems Like Yesterday

50 years ago (1963)

Anna Fischer Herger observed her 100th birthday at Bethany Home where she had resided for the past several years. She was born in Germany and traveled to Peru and New York before arriving in Washington in 1889. Mrs. Herger had five children, four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

The Cascade Bruin golf team took a 46-32 victory over Blanchet. Gary Shively was medalist for the day with a 39. Other Cascade scores were Dick Thornberry, 44; Dan Brandvold, 50; Jim Christensen, 46; and Chris Varley, 50.

25 years ago (1988)

The Grandview Homes Residents Council was celebrating spring with a fundraiser to outfit its recreation center with games and activities for young people in the north Everett neighborhood. Food and drinks would be sold at 2720 7th St. David Barnes of Domino's Pizza was donating 100 pizzas.

Disco Auto Painting & Body Repair was having a grand opening special at 3126 Rucker Ave. For one week only, they would paint any car for $99.95 (regularly $159.95). Pick-ups and vans were $30 to $40 extra.
