Lake Stevens' Tri to coach in East/West football game

Lake Stevens head football coach Tom Tri will coach the West team at this June's annual East/West All-Star football game in Moses Lake.

Tri is allowed to bring two members of his staff and said he plans to bring Jeff Pahukoa and Lewis Widmann. He also will be assisted by Nathan Hale head coach Hoover Hopkins and Kennedy Catholic head coach Bob Bourgette. The coaches are nominated and voted upon by the Washington State Coaches Association selection committee.

Tri served as an assistant coach for the West team in 2008.

Tri has coached at Lake Stevens for the past 15 seasons, eight as the Vikings head coach. In 2011 he led Lake Stevens to the state semifinals before falling to Skyview 38-14 and finishing with a 12-1 record. This past season the Vikings finished 8-3, losing to eventual state champion Skyline 42-0 in the opening round of the state playoffs.

"I love working with the kids and seeing them compete and succeed both in and out of the classroom," Tri said in a press release provided by Lake Stevens High School. "This represents the hard work and dedication of my entire coaching staff, players and the community as a whole. I am honored to represent Lake Stevens in this fashion."
