Many areas need investigation

Now that your newspaper has uncovered some of the irregularities in the office of the Snohomish County Executive, perhaps your reporters have the time to look into potential problems in other public organizations.
Some of the other candidates for review could include state organizations; local city governments, local utility companies, and nonprofit organizations. Many seem to operate without much oversight: rate increases to fund pet projects; exorbitant salaries (over a third of the employees of the Snohomish Public Utility make over $100,000); hiring of family members and personal friends; and general misuse of the public trust.
I noted with interest your Feb. 25 front page newspaper article mentioning Sheriff Lovick as one of the potential candidates who the County Council may consider as a replacement as County Executive. Why not others? It is also interesting that two day earlier, a letter was published on the opinion page from Sheriff Lovick "thanking" county employees for their service. A coincidence? A free campaign announcement?
As an aside, I have voted for Sheriff Lovick every time he has run for office.
Just saying.
Ignacio Castro, Jr.
