Front Porch: Convent near Stanwood holds fundraiser Saturday

Fundraiser at convent
The Convent of the Meeting of the Lord offers its spring fundraiser at the Quiet Light Candles shop, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at 29206 64th Ave. NW., near Stanwood
The fundraiser features the nuns' homemade pure beeswax candles and other gifts for spring's special occasions. The event includes candle-pouring tours, coffee and cookies.

Running Start info: High school students and their parents can learn about Everett Community College's Running Start program at information sessions March 19 and 26 and April 16.
The first session is to be held at 6 p.m. at EvCC's East County Campus, 14090 Fryelands Blvd. SE, Suite 373 in Monroe. The March 26 and April 16 sessions are at 6 p.m. at EvCC's Henry M. Jackson Center Auditorium, 2000 Tower St. in Everett.
College staff will discuss how to apply, options for full and part-time enrollment, student life and special program options, such as the Ocean Research College Academy program on the Everett waterfront that emphasizes local marine research.
The program is available to eligible high school juniors and seniors. Students can apply college credit to their high school graduation requirements. Tuition is free for up to 15 credits per quarter.
