Honor: Women's Day fundraiser
An International Women's Day fundraiser is scheduled for 6:30-9 p.m. Friday at Studio Z, 7009 265th St. NW, Stanwood.
Tickets are $25 and include food, drinks, a fashion show, entertainment and an auction. For tickets and information, contact Fay at 360-629-5001 or, or stop by the Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow shop at 8717 271st St. NW, Stanwood.
Funds raised from this event will be donated to local and global organizations working to empower women and girls.
Taste: Sweet tour of city's downtown
Take a sweet stroll in downtown Snohomish, collecting treats along the way, during a Chocolate Walk, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 16.
Tickets are $15. Reservations are required by March 12. Go to Proceeds benefit Historic Downtown Snohomish.
Ticketed guests check in at the Snohomish Visitor Information Center, 1301 First St., to receive their "Chocolate Walk Passport," goodie bag and raffle ticket.
Help: Afghan girls' education is focus
A benefit for Ayni Education International, featuring executive director Ginna Brelsford and a free Afghan dinner and forum, is set for 5 p.m. Sunday at Edmonds Unitarian Universalist Church, 8109 224th St. SW. Ayni has been educating girls in Afghanistan since 2001.
The dinner includes lamb rezala, beef chapli kebabs, vegetarian gluten-free chapli kebabs, saffron rice, naan, salad, and cardamom and pistachio desserts. Details are at
Nominate: Group honors the generous
The Stanwood-Camano Area Foundation seeks nominations for the 2013 Philanthropist of the Year to be presented at a ceremony March 29.
Three awards will be given to outstanding individuals and businesses in the Stanwood-Camano area:
Spirit of Philanthropy Award: Honors those who exhibit heartfelt dedication to philanthropy.
Outstanding Citizen Award: Honors those who routinely gives generously of his or her time to local nonprofits or directly to people in need or activities that benefit the community.
Organization Making a Difference Award: Honors a for-profit business that has a proven track record of making a positive difference in the community.
