Camano Island: Park walk set for Saturday
Friends of Camano Island Parks offers a guided walk of three miles through Cama Beach State Park, 9:50 a.m. Saturday. Meet at Ivy Road and Dry Lake Road junction off Elger Bay Road. Parking is on the Ivy Road cul-de-sac. Trail booklets and maps will be available for $1.

Everett: Online class for forest owners
Washington State University Extension is offering its Forest Stewardship Coached Planning course online on Wednesdays from 6 to 9 p.m., Feb. 6 through March 20.
The class teaches owners of wooded property in Western Washington how to assess their trees, avoid insect and disease problems, attract wildlife and help keep the watershed clean. Participants can develop a personalized forest stewardship plan, which qualifying landowners can use to lower their property taxes.
The course fee is $200 and includes materials that will be shipped, a Saturday field day and visits to each participant's property by a state forester. Registration information is available by contacting Kevin Zobrist, WSU Extension forester, at 425-357-6017.
Marysville: Program at historical society
Marysville Historical Society offers a special travel program at 6:15 p.m. Monday at Marysville Library, 6120 Grove St.
Glimpses of Puget Sound life in the 1930s and '40s and the travel stories of J. Holger Christensen are set to be narrated by his nephew, Vaughn Sherman.
Sherman spent time as a Pacific Northwest fisheries biologist before he was recruited by the CIA. He is author of "Sasha Plotkin's Deceit," an espionage novel based on his CIA service.

Mountlake Terrace: Book sale to benefit library programs
Used paperback books are to be available for sale from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in the large meeting room at the Mountlake Terrace Library, 23300 58th Ave. W.
The sale is sponsored by the Friends of the Mountlake Terrace Library. Proceeds fund free programs and classes.

Stanwood: Author Garth Stein to speak
Stanwood-Camano Together We Read Committee is sponsoring an evening with Seattle author Garth Stein who plans to talk about his book, "The Art of Racing in the Rain."
The book was this year's Together We Read project, which gets the community reading one book.
Stein's presentation is 6 p.m. tonight at the Floyd Norgaard Cultural Center, 27130 102nd Ave. NW. He also plans to talk to students at Stanwood High School. This is the fifth year of Stanwood-Camano Together We Read.
