50 years ago (1962)
Edwin Parker of Marysville and Teck Ling Lee, an Everett Junior College student, put up posters for Human Rights Day in the EJC Campus Center. Parker was a member of the Everett chapter of the Association for the United Nations; Lee was a member of the EJC chapter of the Collegiate Council for the United Nations.
Nick Preboski and Sue Grandy put finishing touches on a Christmas window treatment at Bethany Home. The project was sponsored by the youth of Trinity Lutheran Church.
25 years ago (1987)
Dr. Leo Bustad, a Stanwood native and dean emeritus of the College of Veterinary Medicine at Washington State University, was featured in the current WSU alumni publication, "Hilltopics," In October, he received the WSU Regents' Distinguished Alumnus Award and in 1985 was the second person inducted into the Snohomish County's Dairy Shrine Hall of Fame.
Darrington's town Christmas lights were to be turned on during a program Saturday. The Chamber of Commerce-sponsored event would feature the children and adult choirs of the Darrington Chamber Music Society, directed by Sandy McCaulley.
