Students and young aerospace workers can get some career guidance from seasoned professionals at a Nov. 3 event in Seattle.
"Professional networking is a key success factor in any industry -- and it is even more important in the current economy," Bob Wagner, event chairman for the Pacific Northwest Aerospace Alliance, said in a statement.
The alliance and the Pacific Northwest Section of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics are teaming up to host a panel discussion, "Managing Your Career in Today's Aerospace Industry: An executive panel discussion for Young Professionals and Students."
The event will provide young aerospace professionals with an opportunity to network with industry leaders to help guide them on their career paths. The Boeing Co.'s Christine McCoy, engineering hiring manager for the company's propulsion systems division, will be the keynote speaker. Students and aerospace professionals in attendance will learn tips on how they can advance their careers and pursue their educational and career goals.
"An event like this brings together students and young professionals interested in aerospace careers with industry leaders in the Puget Sound area to create an effective networking opportunity for both groups," Wagner said.
The young professionals event coincides with a day-long technical symposium put on by the local section of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics.
Both events are to be held at Boeing's 2-22 building at 7755 E. Marginal Way S. in Seattle. The young professionals session takes place from 3:30 to 6 p.m. and costs $15 but is free for those registered for the technical symposium. The symposium starts at 8 a.m. and costs $60 for those registered before Nov. 1.
