Marysville Getchell's Davis Lura named NFL high school co-coach of the week

Friday was already going to be a big day for Marysville Getchell head football coach Davis Lura.

A few hours before the big game against rival Marysville Pilchuck it got a little sweeter. Lura, along with Hoquiam coach Jason Ronquillo, was named NFL high school coaches of the week by the Seahawks and Sterling Bank.

Lura has guided his team to a 2-2 record this season, which includes the first wins in the program's history. Getchell, which beat Stanwood 24-8 last week, didn't win a game in its first season last year.

Here is the full release:

RENTON, Wash. - The Seattle Seahawks and Sterling Bank today announced Marysville-Getchell High School's Davis Lura and Hoquiam High School's Jason Ronquillo as week four "NFL High School Coaches of the Week."

Lura led his team to a 24-8 victory over the visiting Stanwood Spartans in their league victory on Friday, September 21, improving their record to 2-2. Marysville-Getchell will next face Marysville-Pilchuck (3-1) in a 3A Wesco - North matchup on Friday, September 28.

Ronquillo's Hoquiam Grizzlies moved to 4-0 after routing the host Rochester Warriors in their league matchup on Friday, September 21, by a score of 54-7. The Grizzlies will next face the Castle Rock Rockets (2-2) in a non-league contest on Friday, September 28.
