The WNBA announced its Players of the Month for August on Wednesday and they are Los Angeles guard Kristi Toliver and Indiana forward Tamika Catchings.

Toliver led the Western Conference in scoring, averaging 23.7 points per game and finished third in assists with 5.2 per game. The Sparks finished the month with a 4-1 record and sit in second place in the West.

Catchings scored 16.6 points per game for the Fever and led the team to a 6-1 record in August.

On Tuesday, Los Angeles forward Nneka Ogwumike was named the league' Rookie of the Month after averaging 12 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. It is the third time this season that Ogwumike, the favorite for Rookie of the Year, has been named the Rookie of the Month.

Phoenix's DeWanna Bonner and Catchings were also named the WNBA's Players of the Week on Monday for games played between Aug. 27 and Sep. 2.

Catchings led Indiana to a 3-0 record in the week averaging 18.7 points per game.
