Update on forest fire outside Granite Falls

We reported Friday on a small forest fire being battled on Green Mountain, near Verlot.

Darrington District Ranger Peter Forbes shared an update today with Herald reporter Gale Fiege.

Crews worked on the fire throughout the weekend, he said.

“It is currently in what we call 'Patrol Status,' which means we'll have someone visit it on a regular basis until we feel comfortable that we can declare it out,” he said.

For initial details and a map, see Friday's Sirens post.
