SPOKANE -- Fire officials say some north Spokane residents were briefly evacuated from their homes when a water main break ruptured a natural gas line.
Spokane Fire Department Battalion Chief Bob Green said pressure from the water line broke asphalt and the gas line Monday afternoon and gas leaked for about 20 minutes.
The Spokesman-Review said Avista Utilities workers have repaired the gas line break. Residents were allowed to begin returning home by late afternoon.
The city said about 20 homes were briefly without water after the city shut down water to the line. The city will repair the water line.
No injuries were reported.
