Lion Air to order five Boeing 787s

Lion Air said Friday that it will order five Boeing Co. 787 aircraft.

The order has yet to finalized, Boeing said in a statement.

Lion Air's request was not unexpected. Last month, the carrier was rumored to be mulling a 787 order.

The Jakarta-based Lion Air will use the 787s for routes operated by its newly launched premium carrier Batik Air.

Boeing said the order is valued at $967.5 million at list prices.
