Trinity Lutheran College of Everett has announced the hiring of head soccer coaches for its men's and women's teams.
Shannon Murray, the head coach of the Glacier Peak High School boys soccer team and the Archbishop Murphy High School girls team, has been named the women's coach at Trinity Lutheran, replacing Daniel Hicker. George Dremousis, the head men's coach at Shoreline Community College, takes over the Trinity Lutheran men's program, replacing A.J Kurtz.
"Both men bring a wealth of coaching experience, as well as a strong commitment to Trinity's emphasis on the integration of faith, learning, and service," college president John Reed said in a statement.
Murray guided Glacier Peak to the Class 3A state championship in 2010 and coaches with the Snohomish United Soccer Club. He played professional soccer for six years, including two seasons with the Seattle Sounders (A-League).
"I grew up here in the (Everett) community, I've become part of the community, and I'm living back here now with my family," Murray said. "I'm excited to be part of building a program that the community can be proud of. I'm excited about getting to know the staff and the players at Trinity and helping the soccer program grow."
Murray takes over a women's team that posted a 4-10-3 record this past fall.
Dremousis guided Shoreline CC to a third-place finish in the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges tournament in 2010.
"I hope to establish a magnet school where guys want to come who are excited about both academics and playing quality competitive soccer," Dremousis said. "I pursued this job because I was ready for a new challenge."
The Trinity Lutheran men were 12-4-1 this past fall.
Trinity Lutheran began its men's and women's soccer programs in the fall of 2010. The school also offers cross country and golf for men and women.
