EDMONDS -- Swedish Medical Center's first baby of the new year was born at 12:01 a.m. Sunday at the Edmonds campus.
The 7-pound, 11-ounce baby boy, Weston Isaac, was born to first-time parents Sara and Matthew LaFon of Shoreline. Weston, who was 21 inches long, was delivered by Dr. David Fuhrmann.
In celebration of the momentous occasion, Swedish/Edmonds presented the LaFons with a congratulatory newborn gift basket.
More than 1,050 babies were born at Swedish/Edmonds in 2011.
Correction, Jan. 3, 2012: This article has been corrected since it was first posted to clarify who received the gift basket.
