GRANITE FALLS -- Search-and-rescue volunteers and Snohomish County sheriff's detectives spent much of Wednesday searching for a missing Granite Falls woman.
The search for Angela Marie Gilbert, 41, was called off Wednesday night, and it was unclear if it would resume today.
Gilbert was last seen June 2 walking with a friend on private timber land near the 21400 block of 119th Street NE., just outside city limits. Detectives were told that Gilbert and her friend had gone for a walk along a trail.
He returned alone and told others that Gilbert had decided to continue walking on her own, sheriff's spokeswoman Rebecca Hover said.
She hasn't been seen or heard from since.
Gilbert's mother reported her missing on Sunday. Deputies searched the area but didn't find her.
Gilbert's friends and relatives also have been looking for her. They believe they found her shoe near the South Fork Stillaguamish River, close to the fish ladders at Granite Falls, Hover said.
Major crimes detectives are investigating the case.
Gilbert is white, 5 feet 2 inches tall and 120 pounds. She has blond hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a white down coat, blue jeans and black tennis shoes with pink laces.
Anyone with information about Gilbert is asked to call the sheriff's tip line at 425-388-3845.
Meanwhile, Gilbert's family members have set up a Facebook page for her friends and family to comfort each other. The page, "Missing Angela Gilbert," had more than 250 friends by early Wednesday night. Many people posted prayers and well wishes for both Gilbert and her family.
