Injured officer grateful for support

SHARE: facebook Twitter icon Linkedin icon Google+ icon Email icon |  PRINTER-FRIENDLY
Several weeks ago my patrol dog Axle and I were involved in a serious motor vehicle accident while responding to a burglary-in-progress call. A suspect fleeing the scene of the crime crashed into the driver's side of my patrol car as we arrived on the call, leaving me entrapped and seriously injured.
I could never have imagined the type of outpouring from the community that I have experienced during the weeks that followed the incident. I would like to express my sincere appreciation to those who sent cards, letters and gifts to the hospital and the police station for Axle and me. Many children lovingly took the time to send in cards and drawings of Axle as well.
Police work involves exposure primarily to people at the not-so-glorious moments of their lives and it was a welcome change to see this side of the community I am fortunate to serve. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the prayers and thoughtfulness you have given to me during this difficult time in my career.
Officer Suzanne Eviston and K9 Axle
Everett Police Department
